THE HEART and it's TREASURE

Scripture Focus: “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” – Matthew 6:21

We often imagine “treasure” as gold coins in a hidden chest, but Jesus was speaking about something far closer to home...... what you love most. It’s the thing that quietly claims your thoughts when you’re alone. It’s where your hopes lean, and where your fears gather guard.

Our hearts are like compasses, always pointing toward our true treasure. If that treasure is the applause of people, our heart will bend toward performance. If it’s security in possessions, our heart will grow anxious when those possessions are threatened. But when our treasure is Christ Himself, His presence, His ways, His kingdom , then our heart is anchored in something that can never be stolen, shaken, or spoiled.

The truth is, life constantly tests this alignment. A sudden bill, a coveted opportunity, a small compromise; it all reveals whether our treasure is stored in vaults on earth or in vaults of heaven. And the beauty of Jesus’ words is this: He doesn’t just caution us, He invites us. He invites us to shift our treasure to a place where rust can’t reach, thieves can’t break in, and time can’t diminish.

■ It’s not about having nothing here on earth rather it’s about making sure nothing here owns you.
