POWER OF GOD
SCRIPTURE FOCUS
Corinthians 1:18
> “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.”
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT
In a generation alarmed grand intellectualism, the message of the cross seems unimpressive to many. It appears weak to the wise, too simple for scholars, and too humble for kings. Yet, it is here— The Crosss of Christ —that the eternal wisdom of God unveiled its most powerful act: the redemption of mankind.
To those who are perishing, the cross is offensive, But to us who are being saved, it is the very power of God. The church has, at times, been lured away from this foundational message, distracted by philosophies, charimastic illusions and diluted theologies. But Paul reminds us,
“I preach not myself, but Christ and Him crucified.”
Christ the message of the church ... for we do not preach encounters , nor dreams and human wisdom nor logic.
Christ remains the centre of our faith and the foundation which we stand firmly .
When Jesus cried, “It is finished,” He sealed a covenant that brought heaven to earth and man back to God. He became sin so we could become the righteousness of God in Him. There is no other door into the Kingdom but through the cross. There is no other life but the one He gives through His death.
Even after resurrection, Jesus still pointed back to the necessity of the cross. “O fools and slow of heart to believe,” He said, “ought not Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory?” From Moses to the prophets, He expounded things concerning Himself. That’s the message—Himself. The gospel is not merely about blessings or breakthroughs. It is the invitation to Christ... a life that unfolds the kingdom of God daily within the believer.
Finallt , lets return to the weighty simplicity of the message of the cross of christ Jesus. Let it shape our lives , message, ministry , and our mandate.
